Remembering Their Dad

Today at school pick up, Jayson jumped into the car telling me about Day of the Dead. He explained that it wasn't a scary day with ghosts, it was a day to remember family that died. He wanted to drive to Phoenix so we could have a picnic by their dad's name. (Their dad was cremated so he wanted to go to the memorial garden and sit by the name plaque.) He said he knew it was too late to go right now, but he wished we could. We were trying to come up with an idea for today; Jay said we should have pumpkin pie for dad. Lucky for him, I had just gone to the grocery and found Lofthouse Pumpkin Pie cookies. (This is #notsponsored at all, and just dumb luck. They really likes the cookies too.)

Sam reminded him that we were going to be in Phoenix for Thanksgiving and we could go in a few weeks. Jay was good with that and kept rambling. The whole thing seemed to upset Sam. When I pushed, Sam admitted that he didn't want to do the same thing. I hugged him and told him that was fine. We carried in groceries and Jay got distracted. Big surprise!

It got me thinking about our trip to Disneyland 5 years ago with their dad. We ate at Rancho del Zocalo and saw the Dia de los Muertos statues at the restaurant. We had so much fun on that trip.  These two boys have so much love in their hearts.
